26 Sep 2024

Quito Spanish
Start: 16:30 (Quito) - End: 18:30 (Quito)

Join this ICC YAAF event to discuss practical issues to master oral advocacy skills in arbitration.

The panel is designed for students interested in arbitration and members of teams competing in the International Arbitration Moot organized by the University of Buenos Aires and the University of Rosario in Quito. The event will feature a structured interview with our panelists, led by a moderator. The discussion will cover the following key topics:

  • Procedural Incidents: Negotiation Strategies. Explore how to negotiate procedural incidents, weighing their advantages and disadvantages. Learn to balance the need to ensure the right to defense with concerns about due process paranoia.
  • Need of partial decisions and bifurcation: strategies to identify when it is appropriate to request partial decisions, bifurcation of the process and how to prevent these stages from generating unnecessary costs and delays in the arbitration.
  • Addressing Questions from the Arbitral Tribunal: Gain insights into effectively responding to questions from the arbitral tribunal, understanding their usefulness, and leveraging them to strengthen your case.
  • The Power of Narrative in Presenting Your Case Theory: Discover strategies for presenting a compelling case narrative and learn how to craft a persuasive argument.
