ICC YAAF: The thin line between administrative secretary and becoming the “fourth arbitrator”

03 Dec 2024

Miami English
Start: 16:00 (Miami time zone) - End: 17:15 (Miami time zone)

This ICC YAAF event is organized on the occasion of the 22nd ICC Miami Conference on International Arbitration

Join us on the second day of the annual Miami Conference to discuss the current and future role of tribunals secretaries in Latin America

The work of tribunals secretaries is key to the international arbitral community, considering the growing size and complexity of cases. In this ICC YAAF event we propose analysing the scope of secretaries’ tasks, the possible overlapping with arbitrators’ work and its consequences, besides from reflecting on the future of this important role.

The event will be an open conversation with young though experienced practitioners who will offer their insights as food for thought concerning the role of tribunals secretaries. The purpose is to think and rethink the work of secretaries in the path towards harmonizing it with the arbitrators’ work, parties’ rights and efficiency.

Who should attend?

Open to those aged 40 and under, YAAF provides opportunities for individuals to gain knowledge, develop their skills and understand ICC’s arbitral procedure and other dispute resolution services.
