Opatija Day 1: English, Day 2: Croatian (without simultaneous translation)
05/09/2024 Start: 08:00 (CET)| End: 17:30 (CET) || 05/10/2024 Start: 09:00 (CET) | End: 15:00 (CET)

After a very successful co-organization of the 7th Competition Law and Policy Conference in memory of prof. Vedran Šoljan, held in 2022, in May 2024, we return to the beautiful city of Opatija to bring you the first “Meet to Compete” competition law and policy conference titled “Tools for New Rules”.

This Conference will provide a unique opportunity for competition law specialists and members of the business community to meet and exchange their views on recent hot topics in EU competition law.

The programme of the conference builds on excellent prior experience and is primarily aimed at discussing the recent antitrust developments, with a particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and South-East Europe (SEE). This year’s agenda includes two great keynote speakers, and three panels focusing on concentrations and FSR, the “effects-based approach” and recent developments in the CEE and SEE region. Our expert panels will include members of European Commission-DG Comp, competition authorities, OECD, university professors, attorneys, in-house lawyers, and other legal practitioners from all over Europe.

The second day of the conference will bring a set of competition compliance workshops held in Croatian language by recognized Croatian practitioners. Workshops are divided into four slots each covering specific and very important topics which companies deal with on a daily basis, like exclusionary abuses of dominance, horizontal agreements, resale price maintenance and other vertical restraints, etc. These workshops are primarily intended for owners, managers, corporate lawyers, and other employees of businesses acting in the region, to help them understand and avoid anti-competitive practices, with the goal of increasing the overall competition law awareness and compliance.

Topics include:

Day 1:

  • Keynote speech 1
  • Concentrations and FSR – To notify or not to notify, that is the question!
  • The effects of the “Effects-based approach”
  • Recent developments in the CEE & SEE Region
