ICC YAAF: The Role of In-house Counsel in International Arbitration

Join us online or in Kampala for this session of the ICC YAAF Africa in-house counsel series. The event explores the critical role of in-house counsel in international arbitration from drafting of the clause to dealing with the arbitration proceedings.

This a two-panel discussion with two short presentations.

The 1st Panel will highlight the tools and tips for drafting effective arbitration clauses including the use of model clauses. The Panel will also explore pathological clauses and how to avoid them.

The 2nd panel will delve into the strategies that in-house counsel tap into to ensure successful outcomes in arbitral proceedings including:

  1. Risk assessment
  2. Choice of and management of relationship with external counsel
  3. Cost management

Open to those aged 40 and under, YAAF provides opportunities for individuals to gain knowledge, develop their skills and understand ICC’s arbitral procedure and other dispute resolution services.
