Join us online and in Nairobi for this new session of the "Passing the baton" ICC YAAF Champions Centenary Series, where we shall be discussing sports law in domestic and international arbitration. The event will be followed by a networking cocktail.
Objective/Who should attend?
Think of your favourite Kenyan athlete or your favourite football team, their unions, agents, umpires and governing bodies, how do they resolve their disputes?
The objective of this fireside chat is to engage senior experts in the practice of sports law in domestic and international arbitration. With sports law being a niche yet fast-growing practice area in arbitration, this fireside chat seeks to enlighten our young members on how such proceedings are commenced, the rules and regulations that govern the proceedings, the types of reliefs available and the enforcement of such reliefs. The discussion shall address the intersection between sports tribunals, courts and arbitral forums as well as the convergence between sports laws and other legislations. The fireside chat shall also delve into the role of expert witnesses in sports proceedings and international sporting standards.
This fireside chat is ideal for all young practitioners, including those in both the private and public sectors.
Open to those aged 40 and under, YAAF provides opportunities for individuals to gain knowledge, develop their skills and understand ICC’s arbitral procedure and other dispute resolution services.
