Organized by ICC Italia and the ICC Dispute Resolution Services, the 4th edition of the ICC Italia Arbitration Forum will take place in Milan on 7th October 2026.
The Forum represents ICC Italia’s annual appointment dedicated to the Italian and international arbitration community, bringing together general counsel, institutions, practitioners, businesses, law firms and academia for a high-level exchange on the evolution of ICC arbitration and ADR.
With the participation of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the event combines substantive discussions on current challenges and sector-specific developments with a highly curated networking environment, designed to foster meaningful connections among decision-makers and industry leaders.
In an increasingly complex global environment, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) are evolving to meet new business realities, geopolitical challenges and growing demands for efficiency.
The 4th Edition of the ICC Italia Arbitration Forum will once again bring together institutions, in-house counsel, practitioners, arbitrators and business leaders to discuss the future of ICC arbitration in light of the new ICC Arbitration Rules 2026.
From traditional industries to strategic sectors, the Forum will take stock of the first months of practice under the new Rules and explore how arbitration can respond more effectively to users’ expectations. New Challenges in Traditional Arenas: Managing Complexity through the New ICC Rules The 2026 ICC Arbitration Rules introduce new procedural tools — early determination, the revised Expedited Procedure Provisions and the new Highly Expedited Arbitration Provisions (HEAP). This panel will put these tools to a practical test: in which disputes arising from traditional industries are parties most likely to use them, and what should they consider before opting in? Drawing on the perspectives of in-house counsel, practitioners and arbitrators, the discussion will explore how these mechanisms can be deployed to best effect — from managing due process considerations in early determination to weighing the trade-offs of an award without reasons under HEAP — and what more users are looking for from arbitration in terms of cost and time.

New Opportunities for Strategic Industries: The Future of Dispute Resolution
Rapid geopolitical change, accelerating technological innovation and the growing role of public investment are reshaping dispute resolution in strategic industries, in particular defence, aerospace and high-tech. This panel will address the questions that matter most to businesses in these sectors: how to protect classified, export-controlled and commercially sensitive information in arbitral proceedings; how to manage disputes involving States and State-owned entities; the impact of sanctions and regulatory constraints on proceedings; and the availability of effective interim relief in time-critical programmes. Against this backdrop, the panel will consider how arbitration — including the expedited procedures offered by the 2026 ICC Arbitration Rules — can best serve the needs of these industries going forward.
