The ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy is a comprehensive and practice-oriented professional training programme tailored for experienced arbitration practitioners who are interested in pursuing a career as an arbitrator.

Developed by the ICC Institute of World Business Law and organized under the auspices of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, the programme aims to provide participants with a strong command of the arbitration procedures and prepare them to act as arbitrators in international arbitration cases, with a particular focus on ICC Rules of Arbitration.

For the 2023-2024 ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for Middle East, around 40 selected candidates will travel and participate in eight workshops organized in Doha, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, and Cairo. In each workshop, participants will be trained and guided by prominent arbitrators, ICC experts, counsels, and law professors. This is a truly unique opportunity to learn and exchange with leading professionals in the field.

Who should attend?

This advanced level professional training is designed primarily for senior and upper mid-level arbitration practitioners interested in pursuing a career as an arbitrator. Participants must have an advanced knowledge of the English language and sufficient experience in international arbitration.

How to apply?

Complete the following steps before 17 March 2024 at 23:59 (CET).

Step 1: Submit your application on ICC Knowledge 2 Go platform.
Step 2: Send your CV and Cover Letter to DRSLearning@iccwbo.org with the subject line “Academy Middle East Application – [Name and Surname]”.

These documents should include your educational background and work experience with details of any arbitration-related experience, such as the number of years, the number of cases, and whether it was full-time or part-time. In your Cover Letter, please describe your motivation for joining the programme and your aspirations to become an arbitrator. We recommend limiting your response to under 1000 words.

Selection criteria

Applicants residing and/or practising in Middle East are given priority;
Minimum experience of five years of professional experience in arbitration, with a preference for applicants with more than 10 years of experience;
Advanced level in the English language is required as all instructions, assignments, and workshops will be conducted in English;
Contributions to the development of arbitration in the region are desired; and
Strong motivation and commitment for the program.

Venue	Detailed information about the dates and venues of each workshop will be given to selected participants after admission.
Travel info	Participants are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and hotel reservations. No sponsorship from the ICC is available in this regard.

Registration fee	US$4,000* *20% VAT will be applied Only selected applicants will be asked to pay the registration fee. If selected for the programme, participants commit to completing the payment process within the given timeline and attending all workshops. There are no scholarship or registration waivers available for this programme.
Cancellation policy	Participants are eligible for a refund of their registration fee if a cancellation request is submitted in writing before 31 May 2024. However, this will incur a cancellation fee which must be covered by the participant. Any cancellation after the mentioned date is not refundable. Please note that ICC reserves the right to cancel this event or to make minor alterations to the content and timing of the programme or to the identity of the speakers. In the unlikely event of cancellation, delegates will be offered a full refund. ICC will not, however, be held responsible for any related expenses.
