Webcast on climate action and the post-COVID recovery: Climate action is still everyone’s business

The COVID-19 pandemic has cost lives and devastated livelihoods. As we begin to examine how to shape the post-COVID recovery, it is clear that building resilience will be vital to ensure businesses, communities and people can survive future existential threats, one of the most pressing being climate change.

As we work towards the UN climate negotiations at COP26 in November 2021, how do we ensure that businesses build resilience into their operations and maintain the momentum on climate action to ensure that businesses, communities and people not only survive but thrive into the future?

This unique webinar is organised by ICC with the support of We Mean Business, World Economic Forum, The B Team and the World Council for Business and Sustainable Development. During the event you will hear from climate leaders on why Climate Action is still Everyone’s Business and learn what kind of collective action needs to be taken to build a future that puts us squarely on track to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement, while creating jobs, reducing inequalities and safeguarding the global economy.

We will sit down with Nigel Topping and Gonzalo Muñoz, appointed by the governments of the UK and Chile to act as official ‘Climate Champions’ for the UN climate talks, as well as the new CEO of We Mean Business, María Mendiluce, with a special video message from Paul Polman, to address the following three key questions:

  • What lessons must we draw from the current crisis to springboard onto a path that will put us on track to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement?
  • What concrete actions can business leaders take to build resilience in their operations and prepare for future existential threats?
  • What are the plans for COP26 and how can the business community help to maintain momentum on climate action over the course of the next 18 months ahead of COP26?
