ICC YAF: ICC Arbitration Service and Discussion of its Arbitration Rules 2021

09 Jan 2021

Taipei Chinese
Start: 09:00am (Taiwan)

Join us for this 3-hour tour for an introduction to ICC administered arbitration and a detailed discussion of the newly released ICC Arbitration Rules, effective from 1 January 2021.

ICC is the leading international dispute resolution service provider. However, ICC administered arbitration is still not familiar to many local lawyers in Taiwan. Some may be hesitant to recommend ICC Arbitration as the dispute resolution mechanism when drafting and negotiating dispute resolution clauses for their clients under a general wrong impression t that the panellists will clarify and explain.

In addition, ICC recently revealed the draft of its 2021 Arbitration Rules due to be formally released on 1st December 2020 and come into force on 1 January 2021. Until now, no seminar (including webinar) has been held to discuss the noticeable changes of ICC 2021 Arbitration Rules in Taiwan.

This seminar targets  members of the Taipei Bar Association (TBA). During the 3 hours, we will first introduce the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the Secretariat, and the proceedings of ICC administered arbitration. Then, we will also brief the noticeable changes of the 2021 ICC Arbitration Rules with an emphasis on how the new rules respond to the new trends in international arbitration, including the impact of COVID-19, complex arbitration, remote hearings, etc.

The event will be conducted in Chinese. No English interpretation will be provided. It will also be a continuing professional development course of the Taipei Bar Association.
