ICC YAF: Emergency Arbitration in India: The Present and the Future

17 Apr 2021

Online English
13:00 (CEST) | 17:00 (IST)

Join us for a session on the evolution of Emergency Arbitration in India.

We have a panel of young and dynamic legal practioners who willdiscuss their view on the Indian position when it comes to the urgent remedy of Emergency Arbitration. This topic gains significance in light of the recent dispute between Amazon and Future Retail/Reliance and due to the lack of express legislative recognition under the India Arbitration Act. Additionally, the pandemic also made us appreciate the importance of this remedy, as when the courts could not function, emergency arbitration could be utilised as a remedy providing the required relief to commercial parties.

Who should attend?

Objective of this session is to familiarize the participants with the intricacies of the concept of Emergency Arbitration and discuss judicial evolution, and address the growing need of its legislative recognition.

Arbitration enthusiasts and in house counsels must attend this short session.
