Are you an up-and-coming in-house counsel based in Switzerland? Do you want to learn more about document production / discovery in litigation or arbitration proceedings? If so, join us in Basel for the second instalment in our Swiss in-house workshop series on dispute resolution!
The prospect of document production (“DP”) / discovery, especially in the context of litigation before common law courts and increasingly in civil-law seated arbitrations, can be anxiety-inducing for in-house counsel. Companies often wish to avoid exposing themselves to onerous, time-consuming and expensive DP procedures, but could of course also benefit from the ability to gather evidence from opposing parties.
In an interactive, small-group setting, workshop participants will learn about the many approaches to DP in different fora/jurisdictions, how companies can control their exposure to DP, what in-house counsel can do to prepare effectively for DP procedures, and how best to deploy or defend against specific requests.
James Menz, a Zurich-based dispute resolution practitioner, will lead the workshop and share his deep knowledge of DP practices. As one of the most well-versed arbitration practitioners in Switzerland, and with prior experience both in-house and as counsel in US litigations, he is ideally placed to guide participants through document production’s many subtleties and pitfalls. Hannah Boehm (Roche) and Ben Moss (ICC YAAF) will also be present to contribute their own practical tips from their experience in-house and in private practice.
