ICC YAAF: Investment Protection and Climate Change Mitigation

19 Oct 2022

Prague English
17:00 (CEST)

ICC YAAF is back in Prague with an in-person event to spark a lively debate on the occasion of the 12th Investment Treaty Arbitration Conference.

To achieve the decarbonization targets set by the Paris Agreement or the European Green Deal, fossil fuel investments need to be retired early. In parallel, a massive investment is required, not only from the public sector, but also a mobilization of private sector finance and innovation to provide for a greener and sustainable future. What is the role of investment protection regimes? Can ISDS help climate change mitigation? Rather, will it slow it down? What about the Energy Charter Treaty: to achieve the environmental goals shall we leave it, fix it or rather kill it? Sign up and become part of the discussions!

This event is aimed at young professionals - dispute resolution lawyers, public administration lawyers, corporate counsel, external counsel, and business professionals – of approximately 40 years of age or under (although anyone interested in the topic is welcome to attend).
