On this occasion, the diverse panel of speakers will share their views on the noteworthy developments of arbitration landscape in Indonesia and how it leaves footprints of arbitration practice for the alternative dispute resolution stakeholders, in the country and within the Asia Pacific region to follow. Additionally, a session dedicated specifically to the ICC case management practice concerning arbitration clause is one for the book!

Session 1: To Amend or Not to Amend – Navigating Law No 30 of 1999 on Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution

In this session, the Panel will revisit the once highly debated idea of amending the arbitration law of Indonesia. In particular, the Panel will explore whether the provisions pertaining to enforcement and setting aside of foreign arbitral award in the current law serves their purpose or is amendment necessary to start promoting Indonesia as a safe jurisdiction for international arbitration.

In this session, the audience will have the opportunity to e-meet and hear from the members of the ICC Case Management Team based in Singapore who handles and manages ICC arbitration proceedings involving Indonesian elements. The Panel will share experiences of understanding and interpreting arbitration clause that is often pathological and how having well-drafted arbitration clause is important for arbitral proceedings in its entirety.
