ICC Croatia Online Conference on Social Responsibility in Marketing

26 Oct 2021

Online English
13.00 (CET)

ICC, as the world business organization, responsible for developing the globally recognized ICC Advertising and Marketing Communications Code, provides a globally-applicable self-regulatory framework aimed at protecting consumers by clearly setting out the 'dos and don'ts' for responsible marketing to ensure legal, honest, decent and truthful communications and practices.

As new practices and technologies have evolved, ICC has revised and extended the scope of the Code to assure its usefulness and relevance in line with changes and practices related to the ongoing digital revolution.

The first panel will address influencer marketing, a rising form of advertising changing the landscape for product and services marketing around the world, which has sparked regulatory initiatives and action to ensure responsibility with respect to clear disclosures by social media influencers. This panel will also discuss the role of social media influencers as central actors in CSR communication, connecting organizations and stakeholders by endorsing organizational CSR initiatives through self-generated messages.

The second panel will explore some of new emerging environmental claims in the marketplace as the past few years have seen a renewed interest in environmental marketing, particularly in the context of growing momentum on climate action globally, including collective efforts by governments and businesses to mitigate the threats of climate change and promote sustainable consumption. This panel will also discuss existing regulatory and self-regulatory guidance for monitoring and related substantiation for these claims.

A special part of the conference will be dedicated to children and teens and how they are defined globally (and in the ICC Code) as well as existing guidance for advertising directed to children and teens both in the online environment or traditional media.
