ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (ICC YAF) is organizing a conference to discuss the characteristics of an efficient arbitration through different perspectives. This conference is being organized at the occasion of the 3rd ICC Peruvian Arbitration Day.

During this conference, participants will be able to discuss the following perspectives:

(i) In-house counsel: Is arbitration perceived as a fast mechanism to solve disputes? What does an in-house counsel expect with regard to the length of the arbitration? What's expected with regard to costs of arbitration?

(ii) State as a party: What's the Peruvian State's experience with regard to efficiency in investment arbitration? Has the State implemented effective mechanisms to control costs and length of arbitrations?

(iii) Party representative: Are we implementing the best practices and institutional recommendations to achieve efficiency in arbitration? What rules should we include in procedural orders and hearings to facilitate the Tribunal's work?

(iv) Arbitral tribunal: What do arbitral tribunals need from parties and counsel to achieve efficiency? When is cross-examination of experts and witnesses really useful? What kind of memorials are the most useful to the arbitral tribunal?

(v) Arbitral institution: How can efficiency be promoted in arbitration?
